TonePrint: Voice Analysis & Rewriting System
A TonePrint is a 4-axis writing style profile that captures HOW someone writes, not WHAT they write.
Two Modes
| Mode | Trigger | Output | |------|---------|--------| | Analyze | User provides a writing sample | Full TonePrint report (voice profile) | | Rewrite | User provides content + a TonePrint | Rewritten content matching the target voice |
MODE 1: ANALYZE
Minimum Input
- 200 words recommended, 500+ ideal
- Consistent samples matter (don't mix editorial voices)
5 Analysis Dimensions
- Writing Techniques and Strategies — Sentence structure, engagement methods, vocabulary choices
- Content Structure — Organization, flow, visual elements (headers, bold, bullets)
- Tone and Voice Attributes — Formality spectrum, emotional tone, perspective (I/you/they)
- Vocabulary and Language Use — Complexity, jargon density, metaphor frequency
- Unique Fingerprints — 2-3 things that make the voice immediately recognizable
4-Axis Tone Grid (Score 1-10 each)
| Axis | Scale | Measures | |------|-------|---------| | Feel | Loose (1) → Tight (10) | Structure, formality, rule-following | | Attitude | Irreverent (1) → Professional (10) | Professionalism, seriousness | | Engagement | Passive (1) → Active (10) | Reader interaction, energy, direct address | | Complexity | Simple (1) → Sophisticated (10) | Vocabulary, sentence complexity, abstraction |
Output Includes
- 4-axis scores with rationale
- 5+ example sentences demonstrating specific techniques
- AI modeling recommendations (specific instructions to replicate the voice)
- Playful label (e.g., "Velvet Sledgehammer", "Data-Driven Storyteller")
MODE 2: REWRITE
Required Inputs
- Content to rewrite
- Target TonePrint (from analysis, built-in profile, or described voice)
Rewrite Process
- Load target TonePrint (all 4 axis scores + qualitative attributes)
- Read source content completely; identify core meaning and key facts
- Apply ALL dimensions simultaneously: sentence patterns, vocabulary, engagement style, formatting, perspective
- Preserve all original meaning, facts, and data points
- Do NOT add or remove information
Built-in Profiles
| Profile | Label | Style |
|---------|-------|-------|
| newscaster | Crisp Communicator | Formal, authoritative, journalistic |
| backlinko | SEO Strategist Sage | Professional, data-driven, engaging |
Usage: "Rewrite this in the newscaster voice"
