PAA Content Writer: 4 Articles Per URL for Topical Authority
Topical authority requires depth, not breadth. Four PAA-targeted articles around one URL signals to search engines that the site is a comprehensive resource on the topic — not just a one-page mention.
The 4-Article Model
One target URL becomes the center of a 4-article cluster:
TARGET URL (e.g., /roof-repair-denver/)
|
|--- ARTICLE 1: Informational PAA cluster
|--- ARTICLE 2: Commercial/intent PAA cluster
|--- ARTICLE 3: Process/how-to PAA cluster
|--- ARTICLE 4: Local/geo PAA cluster
All four articles link back to the target URL. The target URL links to all four.
Standard Mode
Input: Target URL
Step 1: Pull all PAA questions for the primary keyword of that URL.
Step 2: Cluster PAA into 4 groups (one per article):
- Cluster 1: "What is" / "Why" questions (informational)
- Cluster 2: "How much" / "Best" / "Should I" (commercial)
- Cluster 3: "How to" / "Steps" / "Process" (how-to/transactional)
- Cluster 4: "In [City]" / "Near me" / "Local" (geo-specific)
Step 3: For each cluster, produce:
- Target keyword for the article
- H1 title
- 800-1200 word article targeting that cluster
- FAQ section with the PAA questions as structured data
- Internal link to target URL in paragraph 2-3
- Internal link to related cluster article
Article Specifications (Standard Mode)
Each of the 4 articles:
| Element | Spec | |---------|------| | Word count | 800-1200 words | | Primary keyword | Main PAA cluster question → converted to keyword | | H1 | Keyword-optimized, question-form or answer-form | | H2 structure | 3-4 sections, each targeting a sub-question | | FAQ section | 4-6 PAA questions from that cluster, schema-ready | | Internal links | 1 link to target URL, 1 link to another cluster article | | CTA | Soft CTA toward target URL conversion |
GEO Mode
Input: Target URL + list of target cities
GEO mode generates city-specific variants of each article cluster. Each city gets a unique version of the article with:
- City name in H1 and H2s
- City-specific stat or reference (where available)
- Local context paragraph
- NAP reference for the nearest service location
- City-modified PAA questions in FAQ section
Example (Article 3: How-to cluster):
- Standard: "How Long Does Roof Repair Take?"
- GEO Denver: "How Long Does Roof Repair Take in Denver, CO?"
- GEO Aurora: "How Long Does Roof Repair Take in Aurora, CO?"
GEO variants target exact geo-modified queries. Apply Jaccard variation rules (see content-variation-engine-jaccard.mdx) — score 0.75-0.85 vs the standard article.
Content Brief Per Article
Before writing, fill this brief:
ARTICLE BRIEF:
Target URL: [URL this article cluster supports]
Article number: [1-4]
Cluster type: [Informational / Commercial / How-to / Geo]
Target keyword: [exact phrase]
PAA questions in this cluster:
1. [Question]
2. [Question]
3. [Question]
H1: [title]
H2 sections:
1. [Section title]
2. [Section title]
3. [Section title]
FAQ questions (for schema):
1. [Q]
2. [Q]
3. [Q]
Internal link to: [target URL] — anchor text: [keyword phrase]
CTA goal: [call / form / related article]
E-E-A-T Integration
Each PAA article must include at minimum:
- One specific data point (stat with source)
- One experience signal (process description, case reference, or first-hand observation)
- One expertise signal (credential reference, methodology note, or industry-specific insight)
- Author attribution if the site has an author system
Generic PAA articles rank lower than those with clear E-E-A-T signals. The PAA answer is the floor — E-E-A-T is what wins the snippet.
Internal Link Architecture
After all 4 articles are produced:
TARGET URL → links to Article 1, 2, 3, 4
Article 1 → links to Target URL, Article 2
Article 2 → links to Target URL, Article 3
Article 3 → links to Target URL, Article 4
Article 4 → links to Target URL, Article 1
This creates a circular cluster with the target URL at the hub — maximum link equity flow to the target page.
